Art's Birthday 2007!

Here is even more stuff I am working on that is distracting me from my regular arts administration activies. Well, maybe its just adding to the pile of admin. Helping to make a celebratory party is more fun than doing my final budget reports. The ironic part of this is that I will be in Charlottetown so will miss the party.......sigh. I'll be trying to catch the online content anyway.

Video Pool Media Arts Centre presents
Art’s Birthday 2007

Club Desire
411 Main Street, Winnipeg
Friday, January 19, 2007
8 PM - LATE
$ 2 with Art’s Birthday costume
$10 without costume

In honour of Art’s Birthday 2007 Video Pool will celebrate the Anniversary of 100 Years of Radio Broadcast with live art, a sound buffet, vintage video game lounge and radio broadcasts on CKUW 95.9 FM

Opening receptions starting 8 PM

Personal Soundtrack Emitters by Darsha Hewitt and Stephanie Brodeur (public opening of exhibition)
…and I thought Guy Debord was dead, by Garth Hardy (performance / broadcast)

PLUS! reinvent the golden age of radio at Video Pool’s live sound buffet - bring your own sounds, share online!

Then, try your luck at the arcane arcade featuring well-loved video game systems from bygone eras, such as Atari, Nintendo and PS1. Or bid on prizes at the silent auction. Prizes for the best costume reflecting this year’s Art’s Birthday theme... 100 years of broadcast radio.

Then we'll party like it's 1907 with DJ Hunnicutt!

On Christmas Day 1906, Reginald Aubrey Fessenden transmitted music and voice across the Atlantic in the first wireless radio broadcast in history. Now Art’s Birthday partners from Antwerp, Prague, Vancouver, Montreal, Winnipeg and more continue the tradition of interactive, international art networking.

Live radio broadcasts on CKUW 95.9 FM starting at 8PM
Elegy for Khlebnikov by Adhere and Deny (re-broadcast)
…and I thought Guy Debord was dead, by Garth Hardy
